Cambodia-Hungary Plan to Re-establish Embassies in 2021
(Hungary): Cambodian and Hungarian leaders announced to re-establish embassies on the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2021.
The announcement was made during the meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the afternoon of June 13.
Cambodia will open its embassy in Budapest and Hungary will also open its embassy in Phnom Penh.
Cambodia and Hungary formed diplomatic ties on September 20, 1956, but it was cut off in 1975 during the Khmer Rouge regime. In 1979, the two countries restored their relations. Hungary also supported UNTAC cooperation in building peace in Cambodia.
