Generators Hired from Turkey to Arrive in No Less Than 2 Months
(Phnom Penh): H.E Keo Rotanak EDC Director General, confirmed that if negotiation is successful, 200-megawatt power generators hired from Turkey will take at least 2 months to arrive in the Kingdom.
After attending a get-together between Samdech Techo Hun Sen and more than 10,000 garment workers in Pursat province in the morning of Mar. 20, 2019 H.E. Keo Rotanak, Delegate Minister attached to the Prime Minister, Director General of EDC, told reporters that Turkey had responded to the documents sent by Cambodia on Mar. 19.
Now the technical working group is studying the case. Once completed, a team of delegations will go to Turkey to negotiate the lease of generators to supply 200 megawatt of electricity to Cambodia.
“In that case, if the negotiation is successful, it will take at least 2 months to move 200-megawatt power generators to Cambodia by ship.”
H.E. Keo Rottanak begged people to understand and save electricity until the end of May. On weekends and holidays, EDC will not cut electricity supply.
With the above mentioned, HE Keo Rotanak also stated that in mid-April, we will have 20 megawatts of electricity from a solar power plant in Kampong Speu province near Phnom Penh. By the end of September this year, a coal-fired power plant, which is under construction for two years ago, will also operate.
