Two New Int’l Airports To Appear in the Kingdom
(Phnom Penh): Currently, Phnom Penh International Airport runway can only allow small type of commercial Airbus carrying around 100-300 persons to land while wide-body aircrafts are unable to make a stop.
To solve such issue, the government will set up two new international airports, one between Kandal and Takeo provinces, and another in Siem Reap, which runways can land aircraft with large seating capacity that is enable to fly across the continent, according to Chea Oun, secretary of state and spokesperson of Civil Aviation, told the media.
He added that besides, several domestic airports are also studying to carry out ongoing projects.
These airports for domestic flights, such as in Koh Kong, Preah Vihear, Battambang, Stung Treng, Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri and Poipet are studying but the Civil Aviation has not yet set the construction period.
